Marriage Counseling in Conway, Arkansas
Couples therapy with Laura Cecil, M.A., LAC. In person in Conway, and telehealth across Arkansas.
You keep having the same argument. It ends the same way every time. One of you shuts down, the other keeps pushing, and nothing really gets resolved. Or maybe you've stopped fighting altogether, and the quiet feels worse than the arguing did.
I'm Laura Cecil, a Licensed Associate Counselor in Conway. I work with couples who want to stop cycling through the same conflict and start understanding what sits underneath it. Much of my work draws on the Gottman Method, an approach built on decades of research into what helps relationships last and what tends to wear them down.
Now accepting new couples. I keep a deliberately small practice, which means there is room to talk things through before you commit to anything. If it turns out I'm not the right fit for what you're looking for, I'll gladly point you toward someone who is. In person in Conway, and telehealth throughout Arkansas.
How I can help
Marriage & Couples Counseling
For partners stuck in a pattern they can name but can't break. We map the cycle, find where connection breaks down, and build concrete skills for repair.
Recovering From Infidelity
Betrayal doesn't have to end a marriage, but it does change one. Structured work through disclosure, the aftermath, and the long process of rebuilding trust.
EMDR for Trauma
When something older than this relationship keeps surfacing inside it. EMDR helps the nervous system finish processing what it never got to resolve.
Individual Therapy
Anxiety, depression, grief, and the relationship patterns you keep repeating. Sometimes the most useful work on a marriage happens one person at a time.
What working with me is like
Sessions have some shape to them. Research on couples is unusually clear about what separates relationships that recover from those that don't, and a good deal of that work translates into things you can practice rather than just talk about.
Early on, we spend time getting a clear picture of your relationship. Depending on what seems most useful, that might include meeting with each of you individually, or working through a written assessment together. Either way, I'll share what I'm noticing within the first several sessions, so you know what we're working toward and whether it feels like the right fit.
From there we focus on what your relationship actually needs. For some couples that's learning to bring up a hard subject without it escalating. For others it's rebuilding the friendship underneath the partnership, or repairing after a betrayal, or finally saying the thing you've both been stepping around for years.
I won't take sides, and it isn't my place to tell you whether to stay together. What I can do is make sure you both feel heard, name a pattern gently when I notice one, and send you home with something you can actually use.
Private by design
I work outside of insurance networks, and one consequence is worth stating plainly: there is no diagnosis in your medical record and no claim moving through a health plan.
For clients whose work makes privacy a practical matter rather than a preference, and in a city this size that is most of them, a few things follow. Sessions are available by secure video, so you can meet from your own office instead of sitting in a waiting room. I schedule so that clients don't overlap in my space. And what you say here stays here, subject only to the standard legal exceptions I'll walk you through before we begin.
None of that is a premium feature. It's simply what happens when an insurance company isn't part of the arrangement.

Private-pay couples therapy, with no diagnosis, no session limits, and no insurance company in the room. Most people don't realize that insurance rarely covers couples therapy anyway, because billing a plan requires diagnosing one partner with a mental health condition. I'd rather not label one of you as the problem in order to work on something that belongs to both of you. Many clients use pre-tax HSA or FSA funds. More on fees and why I stay out of network →
